The D2 Medical Centre                 

Welcome to D2 Medical Centre, General Family Practice.

Providing excellence in medical care in a modern & friendly environment. The D2 Medical Centre specialises in general practice and travel vaccines, it is a certified medical centre for yellow fever vaccination by the HSE. The D2 medical centre is certified for all the free childhood vaccines by HSE, it is also regeristered for free cervical smears. Open from 830am to 630pm Monday to Friday, appointments and walk in. We are closed from 2 to 3 pm every day.  Located in the heart of Dublin 2 it spans over 5 floors at number 1 Fitzwilliam street, opposite the national headquarters of Bank of Ireland. We are delighted to offer a full time physiotherapist at our medical centre available 5 days a week.

The centre as well as been a specialised centre in travel vaccines also delivers a full program of health screening, insurance medicals, sports medicine, family planning, STI screening, emergency contraception, implanon & mirena coil insertion & smears. Note the D2 medical centre now provides free cervical smears and is part of the national cervical check program with results in a turn around time of 2 weeks. It is a full computerised practice and has electronic links the labs in St Vincents and St James Hospitals. Dr John Ryan is the principle GP in the practice. As well as doing the western training scheme in psychiatry and vocational gp training schemes, he has a diploma in child health from the Royal College of Surgeons, a diploma in womens health from the Irish College of Physicians and DRCOG diploma in womens health from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists In London. He also has a diploma in clinical psychiatry from the Irish College of Physicians. Dr Ryan also has a diploma in geriatric medicine from the Irish College of Physicians. Dr Ryan was full medical registration with both the Irish Medical Council and the General Medical Council of Great Britain. Our nurse runs a special well woman clinic on a Wednesday and Thursday morning from 830am to 1400 hence she can she patients over lunch hour. She is available to do all smear tests as part on the national cervical smear check program which is free for all wemon from age 25 years and over at our practice. All you now have to do is bring along your PPS number on the day. The turn around time for results is 3 weeks.

Dr Kathrese Mockler we are delighted to say has joined our practice in its development. Her Clinic is from 9 am to 2 pm and 3 pm to 6 pm on a wednesday. She has a special interest in womens health. She is a graduate of the Royal College of Surgeons. She has full MICGP membership as well as a diploma in child health and a diploma in medicine of the elderly. Please call Catherine Rhodes her secretary for a appointment to this special womens clinic all day every Wednesday. 

Please note that after 25 years in successful practice at the Pembroke clinic Dr Edward Kennedy has decided to retire from full time practice.

It is also noted that Dr Edward Kennedy continues in partnership with Dr John Ryan at the D2 medical centre on a Tuesday morning only from 9am to 12pm with a facility to see all his old patients as they wish.
Dr Edward Kennedy while not fully retired from practice is delighted to see any of his own patients at his new private clinic with the D2 medical centre every Tuesday from 9am to 12pm. He wishes to thank all his patients who have supported his practice over the last 25 years and to reassure them all their medical records are now under the excellent medical care of Dr John Ryan and Dr Katrese Mockler of the D2 Medical centre No 1 Fitzwilliam Street Upper.

Our Prices 2010.

1. A full STD screen is 125 euro.
2. Implanon insertion is 100 euro,
3. Implanon removal and insertion is 120 euro.
4. Note for implanon device the doctor nomally gives you a prescription for same for pharmacy, please price your local pharmacy on this cost.
5. All blood work up is a standard 55 euro at our practice this includes consulation, courier costs and written copies of the results signed by doctor.

8. Cervical smear tests are free to all wemon over 25, log onto www.cervicalcheck.ie to register, bring the letter you get in post to the specialist nurse led smear clinic on a wednesday 830 am to 2 pm.

10 All baby vaccines are free.
11. Student rates on visit to doctor of 45 euro.
