The D2 medical centre is first and foremost a general family practice, however it has a major interest in travel vaccines with over 180 countries listed on its data base on the site. It also provides a centre of excellence in health screening, STD screening, family planning and sports medicine.

The centre has over 3000 square feet of medical office space and consultation rooms making it one of the largest in all of Dublin. This new facility is state of the art in bringing excellence in medical care to the heart of Dublin in Fitzwilliam Square.

Dr John J Ryan is the Medical Director of the D2 Medical Centre. Dr  Ryan is a graduate of University College Galway and a native of Donnybrook Dublin 4. He went on to do the western training scheme in psychiatry and the vocational GP training schemes. Dr Ryan is a founder member of D doc Dublin doctors on call, and writes for several national newspapers in Ireland weekly health columns on general family practice. The centre as well as been a specialised centre in travel vaccines also delivers a full program of health screening, insurance medicals, sports medicine, family planning, STI screening, emergency contraception, implanon insertion & smears. Note the D2 medical centre now provides free cervical smears and is part of the national cervical check program with results in a turn around time of 5 weeks. It is a full computerised practice and has electronic links the labs in St Vincents and St James Hospitals. 

Dr John J Ryan has 8 professional medical diplomas in total.  

Dr John J Ryan has a diploma in child health from the Royal College of Surgeons, a diploma in womens health from the Irish College of Physicians. He also has a diploma in clinical psychiatry from the Irish College of Physicians. Dr Ryan also has a diploma in geriatric medicine from the Irish College of Physicians. Dr Ryan was full medical registration with both the Irish Medical Council and the General Medical Council of Great Britain. Dr Ryan has a DRCOG diploma from the royal college of Obstetricians and gynaecologists in London. Dr Ryan has a joint diploma in sports medicine from the Irish college of general practitioners and the royal college of Physicians Ireland. Dr Ryans seventh diploma is in dermatology from University College Dublin. Dr Ryans eight diploma is a higher diploma in patient safety from the Irish College of physicians of Ireland.

Dr Ryan is an associate member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in London. Dr Ryan has full idemnity insurance from the medical protection society in London. He is a full GP member of the Irish medical organisation.

Dr Jessica Barnes. MB.BCH.BAO MICGP Diploma in Obs and Gyn London. 

Dr Jessica Barnes runs her Well Woman Clinic on a Thursday at The D2 Medical 4 Fitzwilliam Square East Dublin 2 from 9 am to 5pm. Jessica graduated from University College Dublin in 2011. After her internship, Dr Barnes spent a year working in Perth Australia, in emergency medicine before returning to Ireland to commence the UCD/Mid Leinster vocational GP training scheme. Dr Barnes worked in Peadiatrics, General Medicine, Psychiatry, Medicine for the Elderly and Emergency Medicine in Dublin hospitals prior to graduation from the Leinster GP scheme. Jessica has a special interest in women's health and holds a Diploma from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in London. She is trained in LARC (Long Acting Reversible Contracepives) and can insert/remove subdermal implants. 

Dr Caoimhe Daly MICGP MB.BCH BAO Diploma in Obs and Gyn London. 

Dr Caoimhe Daly runs her Well Woman Clinic at the D2 Medical 4 Fitzwilliam Square East every Wednesday from 9am to 5pm. She is a graduate of University College Dublin and the Leinster GP training scheme. She also has a certificate in contraception from the ICGP and is a specialist in the insertion of both mirena and copper coils. Dr Daly has did all her hospital rotations in Dublin hospitals in the areas of Emergency Medicine, Peadiatrics, General Medicine, Psychiatry and Endocrinology. She has also trained in Austraila at the Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Perth. Dr Daly also inserts and removes the subdermal contraceptive implant Implanon. 

Dr Maeve Cummins MB.BCh.BAO MICGP DOWH

Dr Maeve Cummins is a graduate of the National University of Ireland, Galway. Following her internship, Dr Cummins completed two years of training in hospital medicine in the Dublin region before commencing the RCSI GP training scheme. On completion of her GP training, Dr Cummins was presented the Ellard Eppel Award from the Irish College of General Practitioners for the top grade achieved in the MICGP examinations.

Dr Cummins has a diploma in obstetrics and women’s health from the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland and a European Certificate in Palliative Care. She is also trained in insertion and removal of subdermal implants. 

Nurse Dalia Flood runs a special well woman clinic 5 days a week she can she patients over lunch hour. She is available to do all smear tests as part on the national cervical smear check program which is free for all women from age 25 years and over at our practice. All you now have to do is bring along your PPS number on the day. The turn around time for results is 3 weeks.

Dr Gemma Kiernan (B.A., Ph.D., Postgrad Dip. Psychotherapy, REg Psychol. Ps.S.I. MIACP) has joined our practice and has her private rooms at the d2  medical centre. Dr. Gemma Kiernan is a Registered Counselling Psychologist and Psychotherapist and has a PhD in psychology. She has worked in a range of health and educational organisations and is currently a Senior Lecturer in psychology and psychotherapy in Dublin City University. In her private practice, she provides a caring and respectful clinical environment drawing on integrative psychotherapeutic principles, including cognitive behavioural strategies, to help people cope with a wide range of psychological issues and to make positive changes in their lives. Specialisms and expertise include stress, anxiety and depression, psychological aspects of physical illnesses such as cancer, and bereavement and loss. Dr. Kiernan has over 20 psychological publications including peer reviewed and professional journals, book chapters and reports, and over 50 national and international conference presentations. Mr Michael Glynn Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon has his private rooms also at the with Dr John J Ryan for over 15 years.
